Bridging the gap between miniaturised screening systems and tests in a complex organism

High throughput screening (HTS) systems yield an unprecedented number of positive hits. As a consequence of the miniaturised assay format, only small volumes of test substance are available. Therefore, new reliable test procedures are required for the selection of the most probable candidates for further evaluation.

TAO's novel test concept is a promising tool to satisfy the demand to integrate the results of miniaturised high througput tests and further preclinical tests in a complex organism:

  • Due to the design of the test protocol and the culture chamber, only small volumes of test substance are required. This can be as little as 500 µl of the working dilution of a given compound.

  • Real-time analysis of test parameters allows for automation of the test procedure. Thus, a large number of test substances can be tested in short time.

  • The test can be performed with tissue of the target organism.

Real-time analysis of test parameters

Our test concept provides strong potential for process automation. The flowthrough design of the culture chamber allows for real-time analysis of relevant test parameters in the perfused culture fluid.
