Overview (PDF)

The Concept

Pharmacological studies and toxicity tests are performed with in vitro cultures of differentiated tissue. The differentiated state of cultured tissue has been demonstrated for periods of up to several weeks. Our culture technology is applicable for tissues of most mammalian species -- including human.

Perfusion culture chamberTest Design

Test compounds are administered to tissue cultures in a polar fashion using a gradient culture chamber. This experimental design mimics common in vivo pathways of drug and chemical exposition, where compounds access the organism across epithelial surfaces. Continuous medium supply safeguards excellent tissue preservation over prolonged culture intervals in the range of several weeks.

Highlights

  • Utilises tissues of the target organism, including human
  • Capacity to use small amounts of test compounds
  • Potential for on-line measurements and for test automation
